Migraine Tracker Privacy Policy

Last updated: 8/14/26

Migraine Tracker is designed so that your health data belongs to you, and only you. This page explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information.

What we collect

Nothing. Migraine Tracker has no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party tracking of any kind. We (the developer) never receive, see, or have access to any data you enter into the app.

Where your data lives

Everything you log — migraine events, severity, notes, meals, medications, and weather conditions — is stored:

  1. Locally on your device, encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption before it’s ever written to disk.
  2. Optionally, in your own private iCloud account, if you enable iCloud sync, so your data can stay in sync across your own iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This uses Apple’s CloudKit private database — a container tied to your Apple ID that only your signed-in devices can access. Apple provides the sync infrastructure; we have no access to this data, and no copy of it exists on any server we control.

Face ID / PIN lock

The app can be locked behind Face ID or a PIN. Face ID authentication is handled entirely by iOS on your device — the app never sees or stores your face or fingerprint data. The PIN is never stored in plain text; only a salted cryptographic hash of it is kept in your device’s Keychain.

Location

If you use the “Live Weather” feature, the app requests your location (only while the app is in use, only when you tap that button) to fetch current weather conditions from Apple’s WeatherKit service. Your location is used only to make that request and, if you choose, is saved as part of that weather log entry — it is never transmitted anywhere except to Apple’s WeatherKit service to retrieve the forecast, and is never used for any purpose other than the feature you triggered.

Microphone / Speech Recognition

Dictation is provided by Apple’s on-device/iOS Speech framework. Audio you dictate is processed to produce text for the field you’re filling in; we do not record, store, or transmit your voice.

Exporting your data

The app lets you export your logged data to Markdown or CSV files, so you can review it yourself or share it with a doctor or an AI tool of your choosing. This export happens entirely on your device — nothing is sent anywhere automatically. Once you export a file, what you do with it (save, share, delete) is up to you and is no longer covered by this policy, since it’s no longer inside the app.

Data deletion

Since all data lives on your own device (and, optionally, your own private iCloud account), you can delete it at any time by deleting entries in the app or deleting the app itself. We have no copy to delete on our end, because we never had one.

Children’s privacy

Migraine Tracker is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
